I ve got some really big issues with my hard drive. I ve been reinstalling win 2K 4 times now, everytime with a complete format of my principal partition. The 3 first time the OS after install start well and was stable but everytime that I shut down the system when I restart it there are some missing files. Now event after a full format and clean install I cannot boot the system and the following error is displayed:.

Please reinstall a copy of the above file. I don t know what to do furthermore I m using this machine at work I really need a solution very soon. It lokes like I having a worm or something like that on my system and I m affraid that my master table and my boot sector could have been damage at some point. Are there some software which could boot from CD or floppt and allow me to rescue my HD.

I don t know what to do. My british warranty is still on until december the 6 but I m currently in a pacific island for 6 month , how could I deal with that. How did you resolve the problem? My laptop just began listing the error message and will not boot up. You need to have your windows disk.

I have had this problem with Win2k. Boot up with the cd. Follow the instructions to do an emergency repair. If you do not have an ERD already made none of us ever do have windows search your disk I believe you will type "L" if I remember correctly to make one for you.

During installation DiskDruid Red Hats disk configuration utility may create a primary partition depending on disk configuration and although the extended NT partition was there first and at the beginning of the disk , the primary partition affects the numbering of the partition parameter of boot. Changing it from 1 to 2 for example allows the successful boot of NT.
